Do you have concerns about the development of your preschool age (2 1/2 - 5 years old) child? APS Child Find conducts free screenings and evaluations, then provides services to those who qualify. A. Montoya services preschoolers with developmental delays right here in our school.  If you have concerns about your child's speaking, understanding of language, learning, hand-eye coordination, movement, socialization, hearing, vision, or any other reasons, you should have your child screened by Child Find to see if your child qualifies for services. Your child might be eligible for a free half day preschool program here at A. Hello Roosevelt families,

Thanks for the parents who came out to chaperone the dance.  We really appreciate the help.  Also thanks to all the parents who braved the snow for the Solo and Ensemble on Saturday.  Sorry we had to cancel it.  The roads were clear at 6:00 a.m. and then the snow decided to come and keep coming hard.  Thanks for understanding that we just couldn’t continue.  The east bound I-40 was closed.

This week is staff appreciation week.  Thank you to the PAC for providing lunch on Monday for our fabulous Roosevelt staff.  Thank you for acknowledging our fabulous staff.

Progress Reports are going home on Monday.  Thank you for asking your child for them and then taking time to discuss their progress and how they will finish the year strong.

Hello wonderful A Montoya parents,

All parents are required to check in at the office before going anywhere else on campus.  We don’t allow parents to go to the classrooms once school has started unless you are volunteering so our students learning isn’t interrupted.  Thank you for respecting that we must keep all students safe.  You may notice some new safety precautions in place.  Know that we always put safety first and know that you will support everyone signing in and us not allowing parents to just go into classrooms.  If you would like to talk to your child’s teacher please set up an appointment with them so you can have their full attention.  Catching them before or after school when they are trying to prep for your child’s learning doesn’t allow them to fully listen to your concerns or questions.  Thank you again for your support of our tightened security at school.

Remember there are no after school clubs this week except Choir with Ms. Hance.  Thank you for participating in our after school club program.  We will be applying for the grant again for next year.

1st Annual S337 Neighborhood Yard Sale

Several south 337 neighborhoods are joining together to hold a community yard sale on May 6th.  The sale will be held at The Old Tyme Shop and the former Manzano Mountain Early Learning Center on 337.  We will have food available for purchase, live music, and activities for the kids.  It's going to be a great time.  We still have spaces available for anyone who would like to join us and make a little money selling the extra stuff that most of us seem to accumulate.  Spaces are free but they must be reserved by April 29th.  See attached flyer for details

May 26 will be the last day of school as we have to make up the snow day since the district called a snow day for the all of APS.  Thanks for adjusting your calendars.

Thank you for your continued support.  Make it a great day.

Hello wonderful Roosevelt parents,

Monday is our track meet at Milne Stadium at 4:30.  Go RAMS!!

6th grade families - Immunization forms for the Tdap, HPV & Meningitis vaccines went out last week to all 6th graders. The Tdap shot is required for all incoming 7th graders for the 2017-1018 year.  This is a free shot clinic offered through the Dept. of Health.    Students not in compliance at the beginning of the school year will not be able to register.  This is a great opportunity to have this done before registration.  The clinic is on Thursday, April 13 so get your child’s paperwork turned in immediately.  Any questions regarding compliance please call the Roosevelt Health Office.

This is the last week for all after school clubs.  We know your child had a great time.

Wednesday, April 19 there will be a Military Service Academy Night at Highland High School 6-8.  I have attached the flyer.

Parents we could really use your help during our PARCC testing as hall monitors.  It only requires 2 hours a day, and you can pick and choose the days and times that work for you.  Please consider helping us because we really, really can use you!

PARCC testing begins on April 5th and ends on May 4th.  Students will take one test a day for 7 days.  7th grade testing begins April 5th and ends on April 13th.  6th grade testing begins April 17th and ends April 25th.  And 8th grade testing begins April 26 and ends May 4th.

Here is the link to our Sign Up Genius site:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0A48A5AE2BA0FD0-rmsparcc

Thank you so much parents for helping us through our testing season.

Please make sure you have not scheduled any appointments for your child during PARCC testing because if you come to get them during a test and they leave the test without finishing it they forfeit the entire test.

7th grade families - PARCC testing started Wednesday and goes through this Thursday.  Thank you for making your child gets a good night’s sleep, healthy breakfast, and comes with a positive show what you know attitude.  They will also need their earbuds plus a book to read when they complete the test.

8th grade families- This is from Manzano - so with the changes in policy regarding PE and graduation, They wanted to reach out to you all as summer school registration began Monday and we typically have a large amount of 8th graders who register for summer school PE in order to participate in athletic classes. When we completed pre-registration early this semester we broadcasted the policy at that time which was that students must complete a full year of PE prior to being eligible to enroll in any athletic class. It has since changed and students/parents need to know.

Please remind them that they can take PE and an athletic class CONCURRENTLY, the athletic class would take one of their 2 electives. I would like to avoid families paying $500 for summer school and making that commitment to attend, and later find out it was not necessary. Also students can take 2 consecutive years of marching band or ROTC and be waived from taking PE. This is not an option for any current HS students and only for students in the class of 2021 and beyond.

Just a reminder there is no school on Friday, April 14 for Vernal Holiday.
